Meet The Players
Jason Hill x Heriot's Rugby
In view of the exciting changes for Scottish Rugby and our continued support of the sport and Heriot's Rugby team, we decided to grab a coffee at Tigerlily with Super6 Heriots ‘number eight’ player Jason Hill. We asked him some quick questions before his game against Boroughmuir Bears on Saturday 25th January at Goldenacre!

What is Super6?
Super6 is a semi-professional league competition for Scottish rugby union clubs. This is intended to bridge the gap between the amateur grade and the professional Pro14 teams.
Six clubs contest the league. They entered into a contract for 5 years and there is planned to be no relegation in that period.
How are you personally enjoying the Super6 and do you feel the Super6 is a positive contribution to Scottish Rugby?
So far so good, Heriots are sitting in a decent position going into the busiest end of the season. Personally, I think it’s great for the young academy guys to get them exposed to senior rugby earlier on will only better their development.
How long have you played on and off with Heriots and what is a typical training schedule for a Heriots rugby player?
I started at Heriots when I was 19 and I’m 29 now, I spent a few seasons away down south but was inevitable that I would return to this club. We train Tuesday and Thursday at the club whilst being trusted to do our own weight training around that.
What’s your favourite Montpeliers venue and why?
Indigo Yard for me. Always lively on the weekends, busy during the 6 Nations and Bleeker play there.
How important is local support to our Edinburgh rugby teams?
The support is hugely important. There’s nothing better than playing in front of a large crowd wether it’s Murrayfield watching Edinburgh or Goldenacre watching Heriots.
What’s a personal career highlight?
Heriots won the league in 2014/15, it was my first league title. It was special to be part of that and although many things have come close to beating it that is still my career highlight.
You can catch Jason Hill playing on the following dates:
Saturday 25th January
Heriots Rugby v Boroughmuir Bears
Friday 14th February
Watsonians v Heriot’s Rugby
Sunday 1st March
Heriot’s Rugby v Ayrshire Bulls
